Seasonal workers: the personal living and earning situation in the home country is decisive for the obligation to pay contributions in Germany
In a few weeks, thousands of seasonal workers will again be coming to Germany to help with the berry harvest, asparagus pricking and grape harvesting over the next few months. In recent years, there have been about 135,000 foreign seasonal workers in Germany, most of whom are subject to social security contributions in Germany.
Unfortunately, the regulations on determining the obligation to pay contributions in the case of short-term employment are often unclear and non-transparent. Thus, the employment of foreign seasonal workers continues to be associated with considerable financial consequences.
