Sustainable PMO: PPM CIPS has developed a service offering for sustainable project management together with colleagues from PwC AT
Sustainable Project Management (PM) has been discussed in the academic context since the beginning of the 21st century, without making the leap into practice. This is currently changing: since 2022, "Sustainable PM" has been increasingly promoted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) due to a cooperation with "Green Project Management". Since then, there have been an increasing number of examples from real-life projects in which Sustainable PM has been used successfully. However, the concept is still difficult to grasp for project management professionals and clients, as there is currently a lack of meaningful PM tools for project initiation and control. Together with colleagues from PwC AT, the PPM CIPS team has now developed a toolbox with which users can realise their clients’ ESG strategy in the day-to-day project business.
Sustainable PM aims to align project management processes with the tripple bottom line of sustainability (people, planet, profit). The underlying principle is " not just doing the right projects but doing projects the right way". Having that in mind, the Sustainable PMO was developed to enable project teams to implement projects in line with the client’s ESG strategy.
